About The Nominee
The clinical staff working in the Emergency Care Centre are committed to being a pillar of leadership and clinical excellence within HealthScope . This is evidenced by the clinical staffs commitment to undertaking and persuing continuous professional development. Much of which is at the post graduate level.
Post graduate qualified nurses are more likely to positively influence organization culture resulting in improved staff retention and recruitment (Abu-Qumar et al., 2020) with masters qualified nurses more likely to having higher job satisfaction (Brayer & Marcinowicz, 2018). The low attrition rate and successful recruitment of experienced and post-graduate qualified nursing staff is evidence of this within our department.
In pursuant of leadership and clinical excellence, the ECC nursing staff recognize the benefit of continual professional development and obtaining post graduate studies. Post graduate nursing qualifications are associated with increased critical thinking skills, decision making process and applied theory in nursing practice (Clark, et al., 2015; Abu-Qumar et al., 2020; Cotterill-Walker, 2012).
This has a flow-on effect to patient care with postgraduate nursing qualifications, in particularly Masters level qualifications, being associated with decreased length of stay and improved patient outcomes (Clark, et al., 2015; Gijbels et al., 2010). The diversity of graduate degrees and related qualifications among the ECC nursing staff, is a strength and asset to the department and wider health organization due to the ability to apply and translate a range of theory into practice.
